Storage Management
Storage Management
Demand for storage continues to grow. This growth in volume demand makes new tools a necessity to manage this growth. Managing storage resources has also grown in complexity as customers acquire new storage systems that are heterogeneous. CAS Severn has a business continuance solution that incorporates the tools necessary to manage these growing needs.
Data is a major asset for most organizations. Managing and securing this data is a critical task. After assessing our customer's requirements, we frequently recommend one or more of the following products to help them achieve their goals. TotalStorage Productivity Center (TPC)
The IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center (TPC) is an open storage infrastructure management suite of products designed to reduce the effort of managing complex, heterogeneous storage infrastructures, improve storage capacity utilization and improve storage administrative efficiency. The TPC suite of products is comprised of TPC for Data, Disk, Replication and Fabric.

TPC for Data
TPC for Data provides reporting capabilities, monitoring and alerts, identifies data usage and location and provides provisioning for Direct-attached, NAS-attached and/or SAN-attached disk. It offers a comprehensive enterprise reporting, monitoring and alerts system to improve storage utilization and availability and allows for the management of more storage with the same resources. It provides capacity management and automated storage provisioning based on policy. It enables storage administrators to monitor, report on and manage growing NAS resources with a universal view of direct-attached storage (DAS) and NAS-attached storage from a file system or application perspective. Departments or users can be "charged back" for storage capacity. TPC for Data is a key component in hierarchical storage management (HSM), providing a central point of control for moving data based on business need to on-line or off-line storage.

TPC for Disk
TPC for Disk provides device configuration and management of SAN-attached devices from a single console. It monitors performance metrics across storage subsystems from a single console and optimizes storage through identification of the best logical unit number (LUN). It is designed to allow administrators to monitor metrics such as I/O rates and cache utilization. It monitors and analyzes performance statistics for storage systems, measuring service levels by storing received performance statistics into database tables for later use and analyzes and generates reports on monitored devices for display in the central administration console. Administrators receive timely alerts to enable event action based on policies by setting performance thresholds for the devices based on performance metrics and the generation of alerts when those thresholds are exceeded.

TPC for Replication
TPC for Replication simplifies copy services management. It keeps data on multiple related volumes consistent across storage subsystems and performs freeze-and-go functions with consistency on multiple pairs when an error occurs during a replication operation. It takes advantage of configuration assistance and automates the source-to-target paring setup, as well as tracks the replication operations. It automates the mapping of source volumes to target volumes, allowing a group of source volumes to be automatically mapped to a pool of target volumes.

TPC for Fabric
TPC for Fabric is designed to provide automated device discovery topology rendering, error detection and fault isolation, SAN error prediction, zone control, real-time monitoring and alerts and event management for heterogeneous enterprise SANs. It reduces storage administration costs by simplifying the management of complex SANs and offers continuous real-time monitoring and fault identification to improve SAN availability.
